How rank tracking works
From keyword list to daily history in four steps.
Add keywords
Pull them from Search Console, from a keyword search, or paste a list. RankNest suggests the page each keyword should rank with.
Pick where and how
Choose the country or city, desktop, mobile or both, and how deep to look. Mobile is the default because Google indexes the mobile page.
Let it run
Checks run on the schedule you set. Each result is saved, so you get a position history for every keyword and device.
Fix what moved
Drops, wrong pages ranking, and pages that keep swapping places show up in Issues next to the rest of the page’s problems.
Rankings show up where you already work
Tracked keywords are tied to pages, so the numbers appear next to the work that moves them.
SEO tests
When a test goes live, its primary keyword is added to the client’s tracker. The test card shows the daily position, and warns you if Google ranks a different URL.
Pages
Each page gets a Rankings tab with every keyword it ranks for, and the Pages list gets a rank column.
Issues
A keyword ranking with the wrong page, a ranking URL that keeps changing, or a target page Google hasn’t indexed becomes an issue on that page.
Tracked keywords on every plan
One keyword on one device counts as one tracked keyword. Tracking the same keyword on desktop and mobile counts as two. Scheduled checks are included and never use research reports.
