Managing Clients

Work the agency-level clients list: search, open a client workspace, read statuses, and understand what deleting a client really removes.

The clients list is the agency level of RankNest: every client you manage, in one table, with the tools to open, search, and remove them. Everything else in the product happens inside an individual client's workspace, which you enter from here.

Where to find it

Click Clients in the dashboard sidebar. The header shows totals across your agency: Total Clients, Active, Monthly Revenue, and Total Projects.

Reading the list

Each row shows the client's name and domain, the contact person, project count, monthly fee, last activity, and a Status badge:

  • Active: a client you are currently working on. Active clients count toward your plan's client limit, and their fees roll into the header's Monthly Revenue figure.
  • Paused: work is on hold.
  • Completed: the engagement is finished.

While a new client's initial setup is still running, a second badge shows its setup state, such as crawling or processing, and disappears once setup completes.

The domain under each client's name is a live link that opens the client's site in a new tab.

Finding and opening a client

  • Type in the Search client box to filter by name or domain.
  • Click a client's name, or the Open button on its row, to enter that client's workspace: the overview, Pages, Issues, and the rest of the client-level tools.

Adding a client

Click Create Client, fill in the company name and domain (the other fields are optional), and click Add Client. The setup wizard then offers to crawl the site and connect integrations; the full walkthrough is in Add Your First Client.

Every plan caps how many active clients you can have at once. When you reach the cap, Create Client is disabled and prompts you to upgrade. Current limits per plan are on the pricing page; see Billing & Usage.

Editing a client's details

The list itself is read-only. To change a client's name, domain, contact details, fee, or status, open the client and go to its settings; see Client Profile.

Deleting a client

Click the trash icon on a client's row. RankNest first checks whether deletion is available on your plan, then shows one of three dialogs:

  • The confirmation dialog. If deletion is allowed, you are asked to confirm, with a warning that deleting removes all associated data, including link maps, SEO experiments, content analysis, and campaign data, and that the action cannot be undone. Click Delete Client to proceed, or Cancel.
  • Upgrade Required. Trial accounts cannot delete clients at all. The dialog offers View Plans.
  • Deletion Not Yet Available. Some plans require a waiting period before a client can be deleted: paid plans can delete a client once it is at least 30 days old, and some plans also apply a cooldown after a recent deletion before the next one is allowed. The dialog states the reason, shows when the client was created, and tells you how long to wait.

Warning: Deletion is permanent. Every crawl, link map, test result, and report for that client goes with it, and there is no undo or restore. If you might work with the client again, set its status to Paused or Completed instead.

Deleting a client frees a slot under your plan's active client limit. The waiting periods above exist so slots can't be recycled endlessly; if you are bumping into them regularly, a higher plan with more client slots is the intended path.
