GBP Management Overview
Schedule Google Business Profile posts and photos for a client, and manage what is live on the listing, from one dashboard.
GBP Management lets you run a client's Google Business Profile from inside RankNest. You compose posts and photos ahead of time, put them on a schedule, and RankNest publishes each one automatically at its scheduled time. You can also see the photos currently live on the listing and remove any that shouldn't be there.
The feature has two tabs:
- Posts: compose and schedule Google Business Profile posts (updates, events, and offers), one at a time or in batches. See Scheduling Posts.
- Photos: schedule photos for the listing's public gallery and manage the photos already live on it. See Scheduling Photos.
Where to find it
Open a client and click GBP Management in the client sidebar. The page opens on the Posts tab; switch to Photos with the tab bar at the top.
Both tabs need the same two things before you can schedule anything:
- A connected Google Business Profile account.
- A business location assigned to this client.
Connect Google Business Profile
If your Google Business Profile account isn't connected yet, both tabs show a Connect Google Business Profile button. Click it and sign in with the Google account that manages the client's listing. You can also connect from Agency Settings → Integrations.
Google Business Profile uses its own Google sign-in, separate from Search Console. Connecting one does not connect the other. The full connection flow is covered in Google Business Profile.
Assign a business location
Once connected, the page shows the Assign a Business Location screen:
- Pick the Google Account that manages this client's listing.
- Wait for the location list to load, then click the location that matches this client.
The Posts and Photos tabs load as soon as the location is assigned, with the location's name shown above the calendar.
Note: Each client can have one Google Business Profile location. If a business has several storefronts, create a separate client for each location. See Add Your First Client. If you try to assign a second location, RankNest asks you to disconnect the current one first.
How publishing works
Posts and photos share the same lifecycle:
- Draft: saved but not queued. Drafts never publish on their own.
- Scheduled: queued for a date and time you chose.
- Publishing: RankNest is sending it to Google right now.
- Published: live on the listing.
- Failed: Google rejected it. The item shows the error message and a Retry button.
Scheduled items publish automatically, usually within a minute of their scheduled time. Schedule it and close the tab. If a publish attempt fails, RankNest retries automatically a few times before marking the item Failed.
The toolbar on each tab shows a running count of scheduled, published, and failed items. Both tabs have a calendar view and a list view of the queue.
Tips
- The client overview's Tools grid includes a GBP Posts cell with a compact month calendar, so you can spot gaps in the posting schedule without opening this page. See Dashboard Tour.
- The AI writing features on the Posts tab work best when the client's business context is filled in. See Client Settings.
Troubleshooting
The page still asks me to connect, but I already connected. Connection happens at the agency level, but each client also needs a location assigned. If you see the Assign a Business Location screen, finish that step. If you see the connect prompt again later, your Google authorization may have been revoked. Reconnect from Agency Settings → Integrations.
No locations appear for my account. The Google account you connected must manage the listing. Check in Google Business Profile Manager that the account has access to the location, then pick that account in the dropdown.
