Tracked Keywords, Reports & AI Prompts

How tracked keywords, research reports, and AI prompts are counted on your plan, what happens at a limit, and how to add more.

Rank Tracking, Keyword Research, Competitors, and AI Visibility share three limits. Two of them are per client, like the SEO test limit. One is a monthly allowance for the whole account, like reviews in Message Mining. The numbers for each plan are on the pricing page.

Limit Applies to Resets
Tracked keywords Each client Never, it is a standing count
AI prompts Each client Never, it is a standing count
Research reports Your whole account At the start of each billing month

Tracked keywords

A tracked keyword is one keyword checked on one device. The count works like this:

  • A keyword tracked on mobile only counts as one.
  • The same keyword tracked on desktop and mobile counts as two.
  • Checks look at the top 20 results. Looking deeper counts again for each extra 20 results, so a keyword checked to the top 100 counts as five.

New trackers check mobile by default, since Google ranks pages on their mobile version. Scheduled checks, daily or weekly, are included in the limit and never use research reports. See Trackers & Keywords for changing devices and depth.

AI prompts

Each active prompt counts once, however many engines check it. Every active prompt is checked once a week on the engines you picked for it (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, or Google AI Overviews), and those weekly checks are included. Paused prompts don't count. See Managing Prompts.

Research reports

Research reports cover the lookups you run yourself:

  • Keyword searches and search volume lookups in Keyword Research
  • Competitor overviews, ranked keywords, top pages, and gaps in Competitors
  • Backlink summaries and backlink gaps
  • Check now on a rank tracker
  • Run now in AI Visibility, which uses 1 report per active prompt

Most lookups use 1 report and a few larger ones use more. Every paid action shows how many reports it will use before it runs, and it never charges more than it showed. Repeating a search or report you ran recently is free.

Tip: Free actions stay free. Browsing saved keywords, reading tracked rankings, opening past AI answers, and viewing the backlink trend never use reports.

Checking your usage

Open Account Settings from the sidebar and choose the Usage & Billing tab. The SEO data usage card shows research reports used this month and when they reset, plus tracked keywords and AI prompts across your clients. The feature pages also show a small usage meter in the header.

Adding more with add-on packs

Add-on packs raise a limit without changing your plan. They are monthly and you can stack them:

  • 500 more tracked keywords
  • 250 more research reports a month
  • 50 more AI visibility prompts
  • 200 more AI visibility prompts

Keyword and prompt packs go into one shared pool for your account. Any client can go past its own allowance and draw from the pool until the pool is used up. Report packs add to your monthly allowance. Prices are on the pricing page.

How to change your add-ons

  1. Open Account Settings and choose the Usage & Billing tab.
  2. Find the SEO data add-ons card.
  3. Use the + and - buttons to set how many of each pack you want. The card shows the new monthly total.
  4. Click Review changes, check the summary, and confirm.

When you add packs, you pay for the rest of the current billing period right away and the extra capacity applies as soon as the payment goes through. When you remove packs, you keep them until the end of the period you've paid for, and there is no refund. The card shows the date the change takes effect.

Note: Add-ons are for paid plans. They aren't available during the free trial, and only the account owner can change them. Team members see the card but can't edit it.

What happens at a limit

Nothing is deleted when you reach a limit or remove an add-on.

  • Tracked keywords: you can't add more keywords, or switch a tracker to more devices or a deeper check, until there is room. If a client ends up over its limit, for example after you remove a pack, its scheduled checks pause until you add a pack, upgrade, or remove some keywords.
  • AI prompts: you can't add or reactivate prompts until there is room. A client over its limit has its weekly checks paused in the same way.
  • Research reports: paid actions stop until your allowance resets, you add a report pack, or you upgrade. Everything you already ran stays available.

Each limit message in the app links to the add-ons card and to the plans page.
